A bunch of new details about Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge arrived this morning after some select members of the press toured the new theme park area coming to Disneyland this summer. Funko Plans to Open Giant Store in Hollywood This Year

Image
In addition to getting its own movie ,  Funko Pop is finally getting its own brick-and-mortar location. The vinyl movie and TV show toys that have become a staple of Barnes & Nobles and Gamestops everywhere will be occupying their own giant Funko store set to open in Hollywood late this year. The Funko figurine maker company plans to open a nearly 40,000-square-foot store in Los Angeles in late 2019, according to CNN . The LA store will be located in Hollywood Boulevard, not far from the famous TCL Chinese Theatre, and next to a Shake Shack and Soul Cycle. That’s intentional — Funko CEO Brian Mariotti told CNN Business that they plan to target both tourists and local residents. “So many people are looking for an experience when they shop — not just buying things,” Mariotti told CNN Business. “This is retail times pop culture.” Funko began as a project to create various low-tech, nostalgia-themed toys, and gradually expanded into one of the biggest pop culture-themed merchandi

Full US Trailer for Australian Drama 'Storm Boy' with Geoffrey Rush

Image
"Sometimes you gotta do what you know is right." Good Deed Entertainment has released a new US trailer for Storm Boy , a follow-up to the original Australian trailer from last year. Based on a classic Oz tale, the story is about a boy who grew up on uninhabited coastline of Southern Australia, where he rescues and then raises an orphaned pelican, named Mr. Percival. Geoffrey Rush plays the boy as an old man, looking back at his youth. "Their remarkable adventures and very special bond has a profound effect on all their lives." Starring Jai Courtney , Trevor Jamieson , Morgana Davies , and introducing Finn Little as the "Storm Boy". This tale was adapted once before into a film in 1976 , but I don't think it reached many audiences outside of Australia. This new film looks quite charming and emotional in all the usual ways. Give it a look. Here's the official US trailer for Shawn Seet's Storm Boy , from Good Deed Ent.'s YouTube : You

Sundance Favorite ‘Late Night’ Getting a Wide Theatrical Release From Amazon This Summer

Image
One of the most buzzed about titles out of the 2019 Sundance Film Festival earlier this year was Late Night . Directed by Nisha Ganatra , the film stars Mindy Kaling (who also wrote and produced the movie) as a chemical plant worker who finds herself hired as the sole female writer on the all-male writing staff for a late night television show hosted by legendary British comedian Katherine Newbury ( Emma Thompson ). The comedy was such a crowd-pleaser at Sundance that Amazon picked it up for $13 million , and they’ve just set it for a summer release date. Late Night has been set for a June 7, 2019 release date this summer. That’s good to hear since Amazon recently announced that they would start sending movies directly to their streaming service  instead of giving them a theatrical release first. If you didn’t keep up with the Sundance buzz that surrounded Late Night back in January, here’s the official synopsis from the fest: Katherine Newbury (Emma Thompson) is a pioneer and

‘Dark Phoenix’ Director Simon Kinberg Teases More Death Beyond That Spoilery New Trailer

Image
This post contains spoilers , all of which are seen in the new X-Men: Dark Phoenix trailer. The latest Dark Phoenix trailer teased the new crisis  the X-Men have to contend with: Jean Grey ( Sophie Turner ), who starts to lose control of her telekinetic abilities. In fact, it did much more than tease. It confirmed the death of a major character. Mystique ( Jennifer Lawrence ) will meet her end in this movie, and it’s not one of those superhero deaths that’s only temporary. In fact, it will really shake things up for all the mutants, whether they’re on Xavier’s team or in Magneto’s brotherhood. But apparently it’s not the only death we’ll see in the movie. Director Simon Kinberg recently had an extensive chat about what’s shown in the trailer, and he revealed that there will be more casualties among this roster of mutants. He also discussed that massive train sequence and Jessica Chastain ‘s mysterious character’s motivations. But perhaps most importantly, he discussed whether or

New Trailer for Restored French Comedy 'Get Out Your Handkerchiefs'

Image
"All that matters is that my wife is happy." Cohen Media Group has debuted an amusing trailer for their upcoming re-release of the French film Get Out Your Handkerchiefs , originally titled Préparez vos mouchoirs , which won the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film in 1979. The somewhat absurd comedy is about a worried husband who tries to find a lover for his depressed wife, but she falls in love with a bullied thirteen-year-old math prodigy and wants to have the boy's baby. Yeah, sounds very kinky, and very French. Starring Carole Laure , Gérard Depardieu , and Patrick Dewaere . The 35mm film has been restored to 2K (alas not 4K) and will get a small theatrical run beginning in New York in March. Looks like a fun watch. Here's the restoration trailer (+ poster) for Bertrand Blier's Get Out Your Handkerchiefs , on YouTube : A worried husband finds a lover for his depressed wife, but she falls in love with a bullied thirteen-year-old math prodigy and wants t
