‘Veronica Mars’ Season 4 is Confusingly Called ‘Veronica Mars’ Season 1 on the Blu-ray Release

Image
Veronica Mars recently returned for a whole new season on Hulu. Technically, it’s season 4, coming on the heels of the previous three seasons that aired on UPN/The CW. But don’t tell the distributors of the latest season’s Blu-ray release that. For some baffling reason (rights issues?), the  Veronica Mars season 4 Blu-ray is being sold as  Veronica Mars season 1. No, you’re not seeing things. That home video release of the latest season of  Veronica Mars does indeed say  Veronica Mars: The Complete First Season on it. Of course, anyone familiar with the show can tell you the season being sold here  isn’t the first season. The first season aired back in 2004 on UPN. But Warner Archive Collection doesn’t care about needless  facts like that! Instead, they’re putting out the new Hulu episodes (which should be considered season 4) on Blu-ray and DVD with the season 1 heading. Perhaps the selling-point here is an attempt to draw in customers who haven’t watched the previous seas

‘Don’t Worry, Darling’: Olivia Wilde Set to Direct, Star In New Psychological Thriller

Image
Having made her feature directorial debut with the acclaimed comedy  Booksmart , Olivia Wilde has lined-up a very different sort of follow-up. The filmmaker and actress will direct and star in  Don’t Worry, Darling , a psychological thriller about an unhappy 1950s housewife. So it sort of sounds like  Mad Men , with more  thriller stuff . Deadline broke the news about Olivia Wilde’s new movie, stating that studios and streaming services are both clamoring for the flick, with “a dozen offers on the table.” Variety , meanwhile, adds that “The project is being described as ‘a psychological thriller for the Times Up era’ will center on an unhappy 1950s housewife. Frankenstein is Reborn in Teaser for Erynn Dalton's 'The Gravedigger'

Image
"A Gothic Horror classic… reborn!" Our friends at Bloody Disgusting have debuted the first very brief teaser trailer for a new indie horror drama titled The Gravedigger , which is premiering at the Popcorn Frights horror festival in Florida this August. This new twist on the classic "Frankenstein story" takes place in one of Bavaria's forgotten cemeteries in the 1700s, where a lone gravedigger discovers a hideously scarred man hiding in a fresh grave – the original Frankenstein. The film explores their connection, both are haunted by their shared past. The Gravedigger stars Paul Homza , Gisbert Heuer , Arlette Del Toro , and Tyler Charles Kane ; and it's the feature directorial debut of actress Erynn Dalton . Check out the first footage. ‘Primal’ Will Pit Nicolas Cage Against a Ship Full of Killer Animals

Image
Like some sort of perverted Noah’s Ark,   Primal will trap Nicolas Cage on a ship full of predatory animals. And honestly, what the hell more do you need? Can’t you just  see  that movie in your head already? See Cage running around, screaming that scream of his, as CGI animals leap about with fangs bared? I know I can. And I want it in front of my face immediately. How’s this for a synopsis? “A big game hunter finds himself trapped on a cargo ship when his predatory animals are set loose by a dangerous criminal out to kill everyone on board.” Still not sold? Well, what if I told you this movie starred Nicolas Cage? Is Cage playing the big game hunter? I have no idea – I certainly hope so. But just the thought of Cage trapped on a ship with killer animals is good enough for me. Also, here’s an image. The movie also stars  Famke Janssen , Kevin Durand , and Michael Imperioli , and comes from  Nick Powell , a stuntman turned director. That suggests – I think – that  Primal is goi

‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’ Isn’t Just a Fairy Tale – It’s Quentin Tarantino Doing Walt Disney

Image
Naturally, there are spoilers ahead. Once Upon a Time…in Hollywood is the ninth (or tenth?) film from Quentin Tarantino . It stars Leonardo DiCaprio as a has-been Western actor named Rick Dalton and Brad Pitt as his stunt-double and driver, Cliff Booth. Together, they traverse the world of Hollywood in 1969 and its changing landscape. Many look to 1969 as a turning point in the old Hollywood system for a lot of reasons. It straddled the line between the old way and the new way, often drastically. 1969 saw the release of both Hello, Dolly! made by the establishment and Easy Rider, a film made by the next generation trying to find their way in a world gone mad. Then, of course, was the murder of Sharon Tate and co., a gruesome punctuation mark at the end of the era. But Tarantino doesn’t follow this text to the letter. In fact, he makes some big changes to the narrative. He pulls a Walt Disney. The Brothers Grimm It’s as if the Brothers Grimm had written their own chapter of

‘Alita: Battle Angel’ Honest Trailer: A 26th Century Movie That Plays Like It Never Left the 90s

Image
Alita: Battle Angel is the second movie starring Christoph Waltz that featurs some very prominent big eyes. But it’s the only one that takes place in the 26th century where X-Games style sports are still all the rage and a robot girl called Alita ( Rosa Salazar ) who loves chocolate can defy death at the hands of an endless array of cybernetically enhanced humans with knifes for limbs. James Cameron had been wanting to make this movie for years, but he left it to Robert Rodriguez instead, for better or worse. Watch the Alita Battle Angel Honest Trailer below. Alita Battle Angel Honest Trailer Alita: Battle Angel may not have been a runaway box office hit in the United States with a domestic take of only $85.7 million , but overseas the movie fared quite well with an international total of $319.1 million. But even when a movie does that well overseas, it’s hard to turn a profit when it costs $170 million to make before advertising, even when you finish the movie with a cliffhan

‘The Irishman’ Trailer: Marin Scorsese’s Crime Epic Unites De Niro, Pacino and Pesci

Image
Martin Scorsese , Robert De Niro , and Joe Pesci are together again in the first trailer for  The Irishman . This highly-anticipated crime epic finds Scorsese returning to the gangster lifestyle for the first time in years and bringing two of his most famous collaborators with him. And as if that weren’t enough, Al Pacino is involved as well, marking the first time the actor has worked with Scorsese. Based on the (allegedly) true story of mob hitman Frank “The Irishman” Sheeran, the story spans decades and includes a glimpse into the underbelly of history. Watch  The Irishman trailer below. The Irishman Trailer What happened to Jimmy Hoffa? The notorious Teamsters boss vanished off the face of the Earth one July day in 1975 and has never been found since. While it’s safe to assume Hoffa – who had been making some powerful enemies with his old-time mafia friends – was bumped-off, no one really knows  who bumped him off. Except, perhaps, Frank “The Irishman” Sheeran. In the book
