Sundance 2026: Andrew Stanton's Sci-Fi Film 'In the Blink of an Eye'

"In the blink of an eye everything can change. So forgive often and love with all your heart." –Zig Ziglar. One of my most anticipated films at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival (original list here) is one of the only sci-fi films within the 2026 line-up. In the Blink of the Eye is acclaimed Pixar director (and sci-fi geek) Andrew Stanton's first live-action feature film since making John Carter (which I am a big fan of) back in 2012. This long-awaited triptych feature is based on The Black List screenplay of the same name, written by screenwriter Colby Day. I'm very happy I had a chance to see this on the big screen at the world premiere at Sundance in the famous Eccles Theatre – especially since it's going out direct-to-streaming on Hulu in February when Searchlight Pictures releases it. While I do think it deserves the chance to be experienced & enjoyed on the big screen, and they should let it play in theaters for a little bit, it is also the kind of film that will work just fine at home watching it on your TV. It's not the most visually spectacular movie – it's much more about the characters, the intimacy, and the philosophy of the stories rather than the spectacle of it all. // Continue Reading ›
