‘What The Constitution Means To Me’ Broadway Review: Heidi Schreck’s Brilliant Lesson In Life & Civics

The impulse to tear down and start over, as ancient as we are, occasionally makes a bigger noise of itself than usual. World War I, that was a loud one. Sacco and Vanzetti, loud. The Sex Pistols, really loud. The noise was so loud in 2016 it handed the earth’s most important job to a reality TV host who’d distilled the impulse into a catchphrase, and just might get so loud in 2020 that “You’re Fired!” comes back to haunt him. All of which is to say, Heidi Schreck has… from Deadline https://ift.tt/2FNGuTB

An Electric Sandra Oh Can’t Keep ‘Saturday Night Live’ from Losing Steam

Image
After Saturday Night Live had two back-to-back killer episodes with John Mulaney and Idris Elba, there was a lot of hope that the cast and crew could keep that momentum going into spring with the next batch of new episodes. Unfortunately, despite the strength of first-time host Sandra Oh ( Grey’s Anatomy, Killing Eve ), the sketches didn’t make nearly as big of a splash as the previous two episodes. That’s not to say there aren’t some great sketches, but most of them were only mildly amusing, weird without any real payoff, or just plain disappointing. Let’s run through the best and worst sketches of the Sandra Oh hosted Saturday Night Live . The Best Discover Card – This sketch was so good that we already gave it the spotlight on its own, so it should come as no surprise that it’s the best sketch of the night. Ego Nwodim is great as both of the parts Lupita Nyong’o played in the movie, and spoofing Jordan Peele’s film by combining it with those Discover card commercials that ha

‘Fear The Walking Dead’ Trailer: Season 5 Promises High Body Count And Familiar Faces

After announcing the June 2 premiere date of the fifth season of Fear the Walking Dead   on Saturday at WonderCon , AMC chased the news with a brand new trailer that gives a look at the new — and bloody — season of zombie series. A little over three minutes, the trailer gives a generous look at the new season of The Walking Dead  spinoff. LOL: ‘Saturday Night Live’ Turns Jordan Peele’s ‘Us’ into a Discover Card Commercial

Image
Jordan Peele ‘s latest film Us has been talked about endlessly since hitting theaters over a week ago. The film is a layered, terrifying allegory for, well, a lot of different issues facing our society today. And what’s great is that there are so many interpretations of the movie out there which make perfect sense. It’s the kind of movie we’ll be dissecting for years. Meanwhile, Saturday Night Live did what they do best by taking the popular movie and putting a comedic spin on it. In what is probably the best sketch we could have gotten based on Us , the movie is turned into one of those Discover credit card commercials where a customer talks to themselves as a customer service representative. There’s even an explanation for one of the most incessantly asked mysteries in the movie. Watch the Saturday Night Live Us sketch below. Teaser Trailer for Sci-Fi Short Film 'The Beacon' About a Missing Pilot

Image
"I do this one-month contract, and all of us can move to a better place. See you when I see you." This just looks too damn good, can't help but share this trailer. The Beacon is a mesmerizing new sci-fi short film made by VFX artist Chris Staehler, his second short after working in the visual effects industry for almost 10 years. Set in the distant future, Staehler's short film The Beacon is about Mark and Kara Verne - both young shipping pilots who are struggling to make ends meet. When Kara goes missing months after taking a large interstellar contract, Mark travels to the far reaches of the galaxy in search of her. Starring Damien Kelly , Kylie Contreary , Eric Snow , and Claire Montegomery . It's no surprise the VFX look incredible, which enhance the story of these travelers. I'm really looking forward to seeing the short (which runs 25 minutes). Here's the first two teaser trailers (+ a poster) for Chris Staehler's The Beacon , direct from Vi

The cast includes McKenna Grace (who played the young Carol in Captain Marvel ) as Judy, Madison Iseman as her babysitter, Katie Sarife , Emily Brobst , and Steve Coulter , with Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga reprising their roles as Ed and Lorraine Warren. ‘Annabelle Comes Home’ Trailer: The Haunted Doll Becomes a Beacon for Other Spirits

Image
Annabelle Comes Home is the third installment of the horror franchise spin-off of The Conjuring , and the haunted doll looks to be more terrifying than ever. This time it’s not just the possessed doll who is bringing scares, because it turns out she’s some kind of beacon that calls other spirits to wherever she is. Unfortunately, she just so happens to be locked up in the home of Ed and Lorraine Warren ( Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga ), that is until a curious teen unleashes her evil again and the doll begins to target the Warrens’ daughter ( Mckenna Grace ). The fact that the babysitter’s friend spookily says that she touched “everything” in the room where the Warrens keep their most dangerous supernatural artifacts from their investigations over the years certainly suggests that a lot of evil has been unleashed. ‘NOS4A2’ Trailer: Zachary Quinto Feeds Off the Souls of Children in a Place Called Christmasland

Image
AMC has plenty of zombies to spare with The Walking Dead, Fear the Walking Dead , and the apparently endless array of spin-offs and movies they want to make in the coming years. But thankfully, they’re starting to diversify their horror slate with a little vampire terror. NOS4A2 is a new series coming to AMC this June, based on Joe Hill ‘s 2013 novel of the same name . The story follows a young woman named Vic McQueen ( Ashleigh Cummings ) who finds herself drawn to lost things, especially people. But the way she finds them takes a toll on her, and it brings her face-to-face with an evil vampire ( Zachary Quinto ) who has been abducting children, feeding off their souls, and leaving them in a twisted alternate universe called Christmasland. Yeah, it’s a lot to take in, but the first NOS4A2 trailer makes it look rather compelling.
